In ancient times central Asian people believed in the god of sky, Tengri Ulgen, that sits in the heavens and protects people from evil. The god Tengri is represented by a dragon in Turkish mythology and is considered to be the chief god who created all things. Dragons are believed to live in the mountains of Central Asia, where they shoot fire, not from their mouths, but from their mighty tales. Once, when the world was dying, it was dragons who revived it, according to Turkish legend.
